Layered Name First one day assignment creating a modern art doodle! inspired by Mathew Richie Students will answer a series of questions about personal choices. Students will draw the answers layered over each other to create a Modern Art Masterpiece! Materials: Paper, colored markers, colored pencils Objective : to successfully create an abstract work of art with your own creative design by answering several simple questions, color and embellish, cut out and construct. Colored Pencil Tutorial / Colored Pencil Practice / 3-D Name
In the next three assignments you will learn several new skills and techniques. We will lay down the basics of how to properly use colored pencils and we will practice with them. Once you have the hang of that you will be introduced to drawing in 1 point perspective and here you will use your new colored pencil skills to complete a perspective drawing.

- How do I create a 3 dimensional look to an object using only different colored pencils?
- What is a vanishing point?
- What is the difference between hue and tone
- What does value mean when talking about a color?

1. Basic Colored Pencil Value Blending - Fist things first, you will be specific instructions on which colored pencil to use where to create color swatches that change in value and tone. You will learn how to choose the right colored pencil, how to hatch and cross hatch, how to layer and blend the colors, how to burnish the surface. You will learn the difference between warm and cool colors and how to create dark to light values.
2. Colored pencil Practice / 3-D Lines - Next you will create your own collage of multi-colored lines what appear to be three denominational due to the blending and value techniques you'll learn and be using. 3. 3-D Name - Finally you will DRAW your name using one point perspective and finish it using all the colored pencil techniques you just learned to create a name take for a portfolio you will store all your 2-D work in throughout the school year. This is a quick but much needed lesson in one point perspective. You will receive a demonstration in one point perspective, and then learn how to draw your name/nickname using this method. Students will further their lesson and decorate their portfolios with images and designs that coincide with the 3d name. Perspective 3-D Drawing
For this assignment you will further your knowledge of drawing by learning 2 and 3 point perspective. ( you just finished learning 1 point perspective in your name drawing assignment ) After a quick review of 1 point and a crash course in 2 and 3 point perspective you will choose your favorite style and create a city street scene / cityscape / or skyline drawing of a themed city. The Theme is up to you, from stone age city of the Egyptian Pyramids, to a fictional space city, to a future earth city, or even today's current skyline, Be creative!
